in fact it made things worse,
all that bellicose grandstanding,
in chapter and verse

All those Axis of Evil speeches
and the rest of that rhetoric
Just built up our enemies,
and made our allies sick

All those egotistical voices
All those chests puffed out
Each and every arrogant word
set the scene for the next bout

It was all going to take more wit
than the half that we got
A need for global connection
to end the terror plot

Look back in your memory,
you'll still find them there
Strutting around like peacocks
in the media glare

You can almost see the sound bytes,
the buzzwords above each head
‘Fear!’ - ‘Attack!’ - ‘Fear!’ - ‘Attack!’
and lies so easily said

Aiming headlong for abject failure,
disabled in all but eye
Following their blind instinct,
while others were sent to die

Before we forgive, and perhaps forget,
let’s just remind ourselves anew,
that it was the Neocon mindset
which infected Bush’s crew

Their ivory tower schemes,
were poison when put to use
Let’s remember one more time
and dump in the refuse

We will hear no sorrow from them,
no apology they were wrong,
but the Neocons HAVE been humbled
and now ends their ugly song

I, too, am very glad that there has been a change from right wing to moderate. But, ALWAYS REMEMBER, it was our system of democracy and freedom that allowed this to happen. Voices were heard and change was made but ultimately freedom of thought won. That freedom is something much of the world is denied. Even though I disagree with our president I strongly feel that he and the soldiers who fight, do this to give freedom to those who are denied and oppressed. As usual, your writing is so very thought provoking and well written.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
