When the evil winds show their might of arms
Life becomes unbearable to the weak people-
Come forth to save the weak from the miseries
O mother Kali! O my swan! Tell me the truth!
As inviolable fate do thou give fruits of past actions
As mighty power do thou give fruits of new actions
As dexterous Kali do thou give fruits of righteous actions
O mother Kali! O my swan! Tell me the truth!
Peace, forbearance and light: thou art every thing.
To destroy delusions thou art the mother of wisdom.
I contemplate you as the supreme power, absolute
O mother Kali! O my swan! Tell me the truth!
Outside I see you everywhere as thou art omnipresent
When I contemplate in my heart I found you’re present
I realize that thou art the absolute existence in and out
O mother Kali! O my swan! Tell me the truth!
Thou art the bestower of eternal bliss and welfare
But men out of ignorance never find you any where
They fall in troubles as they desire transient pleasures
O mother Kali! O my swan! Tell me the truth!
Devoid of a goal or ideal in their lives, the people
Blinded by ignorance blame the time and providence
While weeping they state that the God is merciless
O mother Kali! O my swan! Tell me the truth!
People having no control on their sensual desires
Offer feasts to the priests and to the lifeless idols
And offer prayers for obtaining wealth and luxuries
O mother Kali! O my swan! Tell me the truth!
Desirous to achieve all super human qualities man
Travels from earth to heaven; but the stupid
Never tries to realize the universal self in his own self
O mother Kali! O my swan! Tell me the truth!

this is so very true, venkat... your prose may come to you through wisdom and dreams... but to me, they are just pure, refreshing pieces of writing that exercise my brain... many blessings... and thank you :)

I was amazed to note at the end that this piece was written in the 17th century! It seems to fit today so well.
I was intrigued by the name, Kali, because I have a grandaugter by that name.
What does Mother Kali signify? Friend Bizzy

Greetings a powerful piece of devotion which reminded me of a prayer:
" O Kali, Mother of All
We accept your teaching that pain,
sorrow death and destruction
are part of our lives.
We ask that you grant us the gift
of freedom, the freedom to live, delight
and revel in the moment.
Thank you for your strong and powerful
presence Great Mother Goddess Kali."

Beautiful

Namaste
