Its meandering path it went
Babble, babble went the brook
A moment come then spent
Children splash and frolic about
Building castles of sand and dreams
Babble, babble went the brook
For all is not as it seems
Young lovers play along the sand
Two hearts without a care
Babble, babble went the brook
But war was in the air
In a cloud of dust, the soldiers came
The lovers had nowhere to run
Babble, babble went the brook
Replying to the sound of the gun
At first she screamed, then she begged
Eventually she was left for dead
Babble, babble went the brook
Its waters running red.
Babble, babble went the brook
Its meandering path it went

I liked the way this flowed along and told a story. Sad ending though darn it. A great write, loved the style of it.
