I saw him in a dream
He asked me what the world had done
Since he had last been seen

I told him about Vietnam
In 1965
How Ho Chi Min had won the fight
And 60,000 died

I told him about Dr. King
How he may have died for naught
They gunned him down in Memphis
Though his hands they never fought

They shot your brother Bobby too
For no reason at all
Cameras snapped his picture as
The world prepared to bawl

I told about Watergate
‘twas Richard Nixon’s shame
The good name of the President
Has never been the same

I told him of no gasoline
And rations of all kinds
Iran had taken hostages
So stations filled with lines

I told him of Khomeini
Of how we sold him arms
And how the name of President
Again came into harm

I told about Desert Storm
The nothing that it did
We bombed all the civilians
While guilty parties hid

I told him of the terrorists
Guerillas without guns
We’ve got ourselves into a war
That we know cannot be won

And Kennedy he told me
As he broke down and cried
The world would be a better place
If only I hadn’t died

Great political write here. It would be interesting to know what life would be like with John Kennedy and Martin Luther King, still gracing us wth their presence. I very much enjoyed and agreed with the poem.
Peace, Laura

Are you really a Bobby Zimmerman or just a die hard Dylan fan? (Happen to be a fan myself) *wink*

I think Kennedy wouldn't be the figure of light in a dark age at all. I mean George Bush is a wonderful president and look how he is struggling. Oh is that my tonuge firmly in my cheek?

yes, things would certainly have been different - a few less wars, a more noble office, but that's the character of a Republic - intrigue, conspiracy, assassination admist the ideals and great achievements. What a waste.
