A place of dark, horrible thoughts.
That even scientists cannot find,
And rain never drops.

The guardian angel is standing on post,
Day and graveyard shifts are her own.
But freedom is what she wants most,
To have a life outside of the phone.

But every now and then,
A demon slips through the portal.
And in a digit just above ten,
It becomes immortal.

It feeds on the inside,
Trapping the fears within.
Even though I think I can hide,
I know someday I’ll win.

Do I like these feelings of torture?
Do I like the pain?
The angel is leaving definitely for sure,
Will we be the same?

It’s my turn to take the shifts,
From all day through all night.
And await for the demon drifts,
This time I’ll put up a fight.

The demons will have no chance,
I’ve got my portal secured.
And in my hand I have my father’s lance,
My illness will be cured.

Goodbye Jabberwock!
You can have my pool of tears!
Give me back my ticking clock!
Give me all those stolen years!

And now my portal is no longer strife,
My unexplained need for my demons ceases.
And for once in the angel’s life,
I no longer fall to pieces.

I commend you on, not only this wonderful write, but on
your struggle to win regardless of foe. I know, it's not
always an easy task to defend against the demons who
would see us fail .. very emotionally taxing, to say the least.
I've always felt the best ally is our very own strength and
conviction. We just need to be reminded that it is still there.
And having a friend's hand to hold is a tremendous aide
as well ..

I love the last stanza. So full of hope and brightness of day.
This must have felt amazing to pen. Well done!!
