Spring Maiden, Spring Maiden,
Your perfume’s on the air
Intoxicating jasmine
And the flowers in your hair

Sweet new child of the Seasons,
Your lovesome presence felt
The fruit and babes are budding
As the final snowflakes melt

Dear old friend, heart’s compatriot,
I miss you more each year
Your songs and warm demeanour,
And the colours that you wear.

Authors note: Core is the original name of the maiden of the spring, who is the daughter of Zeus and Demeter. Zeus once promised Core to his brother, Hades, without telling her mother. After Hades kidnapped her, she was known as Persephone, or Proserpine.

This started out as a welcome to the new season , but after I found the picture of Core/Persephone/Proserpine aka that hot chick from Topside, sealing her fate by eating that pomegranate seed, it could well be Hades welcoming her back to the Underworld on her yearly obligation. Omigosh, S, I just love mythology!! (Zeus had far too much
power and not enough brains, though, in my humble opinion! :P)

Lovely write welcoming spring back to your part of the
world. I can appreciate it, even now, as the leaves are
about to change here. It boasts a sweet and soft
sentiment, this write. Lovely...

You may very well be a syllabics wizard and not even realise it, do you know that?

If you aren't tryng to do this deliberately, then I can only wonder at what you would accomplish if you were making a point of fitting stresses and feet into a pre-meditated rythm.

Im familair with the mythology-I enjoyed this thoroughly, persephone is one of my favourite mythological characters.
