But a word paints a thousand pictures,
Look at the books upon the library shelves,
At each one of the holy scriptures,
And see the thoughts of people,
Who passed on long ago,
But decided to bestow their wisdom,
Upon people they’ll never know,
Whose hungry eyes absorb the lines,
See the words for what they are,
Whose hungry hearts crave for more,
Knowledge from afar,
Kerouac’s journey along the road,
Burrough’s sad addiction,
Books that tell of simple fact,
And complicated fiction,
A naked lunch for one, it seems,
On the menu ancient tomes,
That take you from Paris to the Taj Mahal,
From the tower to the domes,
Around the world in eighty days,
Or three hundred and twenty pages,
In one sitting you can visit the stars,
And pass through the ages,
Learn about yourself,
Within the words of others,
What marks you as one of them,
Yet separates you from your brothers,
Be thankful for those words,
That may last a thousand years,
That can guide you through your heartache,
And spill your salty tears,
For always there is someone;
Who thinks those words are wrong,
Who wants to burn the hardbacks,
And the lyrics to your song,
Fight for what you believe in,
And let others do the same,
Keep your books upon the shelves,
And your pictures in their frame. [comments] => 6 [counter] => 232 [topic] => 69 [informant] => Ruby2sdy [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 25 [ratings] => 5 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => poets )

Someone's a busy girl tonight eh! As an ex historian I'm drawn to your wise image of knowledge passed down to garnish others futures with experiences gone by. Talented, honest, funny...what's the catch with you? You're really a man aren't you? teehee.
