[bodytext] => I returned, again, To the drawer where I keep us. This time I opened it slowly, As if trying to prevent a bird from escaping. Just a crack was all it took. The light warmed me instantly. I smiled and closed my eyes, Which, of course, made everything brighter. I climbed into our drawer, My limbs quivering as I pulled myself over the lip Bringing me to the other side. I didn’t fall in hard, but rather, Parachuted. You met me at the bottom with a smile. “What kept you?” We both knew why my visits were inconsistent, But I still answered with some excuse. Your smile was impervious to my weak reply. “I can’t stay for long, I just needed to see you.” I can’t remember what triggered my visit. I wanted reassure her that it was a conscious decision. More likely it was a melody, or a smell, or a colour. Picking up right where we left off, We spoke for what must have been hours. Not that I felt time pass, but rather, I was overcome by so many Moments of joy. “I really should be getting back.” My words echoed off the walls, Getting louder with each acoustic bounce. “I’m glad you came”, She said, reaching for my hand. “Don’t be a stranger.” We both laughed. As expected, climbing back out Of our drawer was a more difficult feat Than first sliding in. I reached the top, Fighting every inch of the way up not to look back down.
