Serenely gliding over crystal water like skating on glass
Oarsman standing tall, looking over and beyond us
Children of Eden stared to the distant island with it's tower at the top

Silence as we journeyed on, lost in worlds inspired by this one
Broken only by oars dipped as both propeller and rudder
Like ferried pilgrims to the centre of the lake, rowed on
Children of Eden daring once more to dream

Finally moored at the landing place, alighted on the lowest of steps
Skyward looking, to the summit with its courtyard welcome mat
Grey stone flags that echoed with memories of the past
Children of Eden once more setting it alive

The small church we entered, it's outside simple and plain
Row upon row of dark wooden pews led us to the altar
We stood in line to take our turn, six times to pull on the hanging rope
Children of Eden stepped forward to the light, each to make their wish

The moments passed, we lingered there, walked in a silent mass
For long minutes, like the faces in the paintings we did not move
As each pulled the rope, the bell tolled to announce it to the world
Children of Eden reflecting on the now and the yet to be

On the other shore as we disembarked, the mist claimed back that place
Yet once seen forever recorded there, photograph in memory
As the veil came slowly down, curtained the day
Children of Eden faded away, took the journey home [comments] => 5 [counter] => 246 [topic] => 48 [informant] => puppy_dog_eyes [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 5 [ratings] => 1 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => EmotionalPoetry )

This reminds me of the book The Mists Of Avalon, it has that feel to it.
I'm sure there are plenty of places still exsisting on Earth that are as mystical, just have to find it and embrace it when you do. For everyone a different Eden tho.

Very nice write, cant say much more than the people before me.

Huggss,

Nats
