selfstruggles

Sometimes I feel caged Within mine own skin Trapped under this weight Of skin and bone.
The limitations of this vessel prision creates the image of me that stands before you But I am not who I appear to be This person you call me Is not me. The "me" that I know lies deep Within these folds of skin
These hands do not define me. They don't tell you who I am, Merely, where this vessel has traveled.
These eyes are not what define my soul. They are only reflections of what you want me to be.
I am so much more. I could be so much more. Without these limitations.
If I could only break out of this instititution That has straight-jacketed My truth My being My ability My "me"
Only then would I be free.

wow.
This is everything i've wanted to express over many years.
And you are quite right...our bodies and minds are limited...so many factors come into play here.
I can relate (more than you know) to your self struggle with identity.
This is a very emotive write for me...i have been moved throughout the piece.
Thank you for sharing it with us, and I hope this finds you well.
