The scars from long ago are healed, my mind clear of love’s knife
My eyes still show a war torn past, but a twinkle shows through clear
No longer solemn, the wounds bleed wisdom, there’s not a look of fear
After the tears and up from the ashes, stability has entered my mind
It’s not from a woman and it’s not from my friends
I cut off dependency, insecurity ends
Sometimes I get lonely, but I’d rather be alone than be in pain
Sometimes I get frightened, I know the fear will last but not remain
I’m never overconfident, I have a grasp of what I want
Keeping myself level headed, not letting old memories haunt
I look in the mirror, and I see a true smile
Which has evaded me for years, which I hope stays awhile
I think I’ve seen my very soul, as my reflection looked through me
With the gateway to success in sight first time…I caught a glimpse of the key
