The atmosphere of crystal glass and chandelier
Gown of silk and lace along with expensive gems
Tux and black tie worn by the men
The VIP's in such fancy garb and place
All that cleavage and body on display
I get confused whether it is the talent or sexual attraction per say
The majestic surroundings and atmosphere
Where everyone drinks Champaign rather then beer
Truly a display of sparkle, glitter and grace
Good manners imperative in this fancy place
A shame for such a charade where so much talent abides
Must be important to strut your stuff
Rather then focus on real genuineness
While glitter and gleam are inherent upon the scene
And decadence seems to flourish
Is vanity the center of attention
Or is it the contest for the most provocatively dressed to win
It's not that I mind all the hype
It just seems that behind all that facade
The purpose of genuine talent gets robbed [comments] => 8 [counter] => 287 [topic] => 56 [informant] => Willofree [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 20 [ratings] => 4 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => sarcasticpoetry )

AMEN! I couldn't agree more. Good write!

Tinsel and glitter all a twitter
Does not a talent make.
Genuine values gone awry,
To make more candy for the witless eye.
Butch
