salted droplets of my grief

Pools of heartache, sobbing streams
sometimes bursting at the seams
tears that mingle with the rain
are washed away, but not their pain

All those times I hurt and cried
knowing something inside me died
stinging trails of bitter shame
trying to forget my own name

Laughter starts and laughter ends
Anger always makes amends
But wells of sorrow never dry

I like these lines the best...

For me crying does help...some, but I get your point, intersting format also! |

If one does it (crying) often enough, they can become quite good at it really. I know... it's rather an odd thing to say... but... I believe it takes time to learn how to cry well. The skilled weeper, I think, begins to see crying as a companion to the pain, rather than a means of ridding oneself of it... and in an odd sort of way, maybe... grows to love (or at least, respect) them both. Learning to and letting oneself cry, at least to my way of thinking, is then a rather extraordinary gift to give oneself.
This piece... reaches deep within to where thoughts like those above normally reside. And that, perhaps, is the greatest compliment I can offer.

It actually hurt to read this.....not because it wasnt well done, I dont see how anyone could have penned anything more perfectly, but because of the terrible pain and regret I felt in each word.
That last verse "Laughter starts and laughter ends
Anger always makes amends
But wells of sorrow never dry
Even though we cry and cry
(cry and cry)." ....how true
You are a truly talented writer, and a good person too. Don't forget that ( smiles)

I'm not sure I get the exact message of where your pain is coming from but that is no fault of your impeccable and intense writing; it is merely I am sometimes flawed that way. I suppose interpretations may always remain with the individual's perspective and the poet.
Please, this is in no way a negative comment on your writing skills or this poem...it's probably just one of those out loud thoughts of negativity upon myself.
The poem is excellent! I feel it is thought provoking and I can feel pain from it. So excellent at relaying emotions to the reader.

Oh my gosh, Spike. It's like you took a page right out of my very own soul.
I suppose crying is cleansing in a way, or as snem said
a companion to pain, but I feel it is a most interruptive and annoying
act as it often happens at the most inopportune times and I am
helpless to control it.
I find it so incredibly odd that when I am put into hysterics by a funny happening
or telling. . . it never lasts. Not even usually til the end of the day, but yes, HURT
me and I'll cry for DECADES it seems.
ah, we are hopeless, the human race, aren't we? Sad and pathetic souls
ruled by emotion we seem unable to control.
Your words spoke to me in such a way, spike that I am left tearied
in their wake. Brilliant job when you can accomplish that from a reader.
Love the unique style of the composition too. Never do I tire of your work.
It's always a treat.
