coast through my mind
lulling all my cares and worries
but they all come rushing
back to me
when i wake
wake and find you absent from my side
there's no need in hitting the snooze
the velvety dreams would only
drive me to wet my pillow with salt

gazing out from my window
watching the rainshower dance
along the street
i catch a glimpse of a woman
could it be
no...
you
i run out into the down pour like a madman
your name leaping from my tongue
but as you turn to face me
she appears instead
asking if she could help me with anything
of course not
nothing could rid me
of the echoing of your laughter

one in the morning
sitting in the backyard
watching the bonfire i made
devour the photos of our life
bright flickering flames
crumpling the memories to ash
suddenly my hand dives in
retrieving one of them
i blow out the still burning corner
looking at it as a small smile sneaks out
ahhh...
i start to remember

we had just finished making love
you know the kind
the kind that holds a combination
of virginal timidness & feverish passion
all at once
you rolled over on your stomach
your hair tossled oh so perfect
the sheet barely hugging you
barely
so your curves were exposed
just right for a second glance
and you laid there so flawless
and looked at me
the look that you knew
made my skin tingle
that's when i reached for my camera
flashed that incredible moment
as i told you that you were so beautiful
and as you pulled me back to bed with a kiss
you whispered
'you make me beautiful'

angrily wiping away the escaped tears
i shove the crinkled memory in my pocket
staring longingly up at the night sky
i try to picture you up there
maybe you have wings of glitter & silk
perhaps of clouds & baby powder
i'd give anything to be a shooting star
somewhere out there with you
i can't figure out which is scarier
trying to learn to live without you or
the fear of forgetting the way you smelled

quite a tear-jerker, hang on to those memories, you'll always have them, I don't think you'll ever forget them, my grandfather died when I was six and I still remember sitting on his lap, those we cherish always have a way of giving us signs, thanks for sharing this part of you
