Forgotten languages talk of winter,
Needled in the prickly pear,
Talking winds from the Tuscarawas,
Razor nights cut from the past,
Tarnished faces of yellow,
and faces now returned to dust.

Crooked fingers pointing,
To shadows on the ground,
Telling time from the sun,
Ravaging dreams of the past,
Showing the massacres,
with red blood steaming.

The winds of time,
Still carries the past,
And cry of a Navajo child,
Lingers in the sand,
Of the ripening forgotten. [comments] => 4 [counter] => 170 [topic] => 8 [informant] => Wesley_Dale_Willis [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 14 [ratings] => 3 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => AmericanTragedy )

The earth ran red with the blood of our Indian ancestors of all tribal nations. Tyranny of the white man at his best. Nothing was sacred to them and our kin are still put on reservations and made to live in squalid conditions with less than adequate schooling and healthcare. I commend you highly for this piece of inspirational work decrying the abominations laid down on the American Indians. Rita
