The creases in my life are about to unfold

As the blade cut slowly into my skin

I closed my eyes and took a deep breath in

I thought of the people tearing away at my soul

And I realized my last bit of happiness had taken its toll

I stared at the blood trickling down and heard the voices

As it flowed silently, they reminded me of all the bad choices

Each drop of blood was equivalent to a tear

For I was trying to diminish any ounce of fear

I let go of the knife and grabbed hold of my wrist

My arm started to shake so my hand made a fist

I laid my head back to let the pain sink in for a while

And for no reason at all, upon my face came a smile

I glanced again at my cut that wouldn't stop throbbing

Then swept over me, uncontrollable sobbing

I wished that my life would simply end

My heart alone, it could not mend

I was in a dwelling of misery that seemed inescapable

Starting all over, I was not capable

I had too many things to think about

I finally decided there was no way out

I could not fathom the best way to die

Anything that would kill me, I was willing to try

I went to a doctor who was actually helpful

For her efforts and guidance, I am so grateful

Now time has passed and my scars still stand

They have now told their story and I pray you understand [comments] => 3 [counter] => 190 [topic] => 48 [informant] => shae [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 4 [ratings] => 1 [editpoem] => 0 [associated] => [topicname] => EmotionalPoetry )

Sad and painful to read. But yes I understand.
Been there, my friend. But life is a gift from God and we must take care of it. Only He gives life and takes life. Not us.
Peace be unto you and happiness in abundance.
Your poem has great feeling and emotion.
Good rhyme and flow.

Katt
