But this habit I'm fighting
I'm determind to stop biting my nails,
I start with intentions
So good but should mention
That with every attempt I fail.

With willpower renewed
For these fingers I've chewed
As they're really becomming quite sore,
But once I sit thinking
I'm sure they start winking
And beg me to bite them some more.

So nibble, I do
Just one, maybe two
I'll start with my middle finger,
But once nibbled I notice
And question my motives
As the soreness begins to linger.

Determination refreshed
I must do my best
This habit I really must conquor,
But as I sit reeling
From this sore nibbled feeling
Oh! how i wish my nails were longer!!.

Place your fingernails into something that you despise like hot sauce, tabasco sauce...etc. It broke me from bitting on my nails when I was a kid...I hope this helps...great write...jh

This poem seems to have been written with a lighthearted, bouncy meter and rhyme as a resolution to overcome a "bad" habit. Take heart, I was careless with my chainsaw and sawed off two fingernails; now I can't nibble them at all! Really enjoyed this very cute poem. Good work!

thanks for the comment! yes this one was quite different to my usual style of writing! normally I write quite emotional or dark poetry, this one was a type of poets writters block all I could think of to write about!! so glad you liked it!

Maybe there is a reason this habit lingers and you have to solve that problem first. Could be nervousness of anger and worry.

Your poem is very good.
