Me in my primal form
Formatted by a creator
All the same working parts
Kidneys clean as a whistle
The technician says nice pictures
I get tilted around to the other side
Then back again
This goes on for an hour
The die runs through my veins
Seeking a way out
It’s poison – poison – poison
Lights up my insides
Like a weird lightening bug
I feel a little helpless
The needle still stuck in my arm
In case I have a bad reaction
They keep reassuring me I won’t
How nice of them
I look at the crash cart against the wall
Well at least they’re prepared
I can’t even go off on a fantasy now
It’s too cold and sterile here
Almost feels like the morgue
Hard cold plastic table, no frills
The young doctor comes in
Checks out the x-rays
Says everything looks good
They make me get up
Walk down the hall to pee
Then back on the cold table
For one last x-ray to make sure
The poison has been peed away
I get dressed in a hurry
And fly out into the daylight

I went with my Mum when she had to get a similar scan, very scary despite the reassurances. I'm glad it was all clear for you and hope you find/have good health. Best of luck.

I'm a nurse and have been a patient. I know just what you mean. You conveyed this so well...."it's too cold and sterile here almost feels like a morgue" Great write, glad everything came out okay. Peace, Laura

You conveyed the atmospere of hospitals in the way I always think of them.Given the choice I would never want to visit one, but sometimes needs must
Good luck

Steve
