Rain falls all night long into darkness of early morning Before dawn attempts to displace loneliness with light Wake you from your deep sleep beside me Unaware I stared at the ceiling all night long Unable to give into sleeps gentle persuasion Tossing and turning, too hot and too cold Listening to the rain on the tin roof Listening to the dog breathing at the foot of the bed Contemplating lifes meaning, my own sense of being Something or someone, anything at all Stardust in my eyes I am billion year old carbon Lines from an old song How long ago was that? Why are we here? Wheres the connection? Rain still falling at 5 A.M. I could use a cuppa coffee

Personal, existential, philosophical and matter-of-fact- this one shot an arrow of connection to my heart. Those all night/early morning introspections can seem like they stretch on into forever.
The dust from a distant sun,
Showers down on everyone
( a song from NZ band, Crowded House)
Another touching poem from you, Merry.
