Another broken promise, she feels you don’t care

She knew before she picked up the phone,
That it would be you saying you have to stay home.

If only you could’ve seen the look on her face,
and the tears in her eyes,
Another broken promise as she held back her cries

How could you miss the tone in her voice?
The one she felt the need to disguise,
Another broken promise, to her it was no surprise

Dr.’s Appointment you no you could change
She can’t understand the reason for you’re estrange
Another broken promise as words are exchanged

As she hung up the phone she started to cry,
looked at me and couldn’t understand why
Another broken promise as you say a good-bye

Stop making promises you know you can’t keep,
She now understands the phrase “talk is cheap”
Another broken promise as I watched her weep

She is the oldest of them all,
The bond you’ve shared she remembers it all
Another broken promise she does recall

She wants to show you how much she’s grown,
Make you proud all on her own
Another broken promise as you hang up the phone

She’s almost sixteen and growing fast,
All the memories she feels are now in the past
Another broken promise it is all so vast

You rant and rave how much you care,
This broken relationship she just wants to repair
Another broken promise it’s just not fair
