And at this time it is not day or night but simply is
The birds in the trees begin their morning song
But this song is like no other song
For this song never changes or fades away
I repeat the chorus in my head and look up at the sky
Such beauty in something so complex
The colors seem to fade into one another
First is the dark blue with its reminder of the night
Then the purple that sits between night and day, the transition
And finally the pink that glows around the sun, the new day
This is all so peaceful, like a little preview of heaven
My soul feels so rested and so calm, yet I know it yearns to fly away
Higher than the geese that fly overhead
Towards the glowing sun with its radiance so bright
For these fifteen minutes of peace i believe it does leave my body, for my mind goes blank
No thoughts, just amazement and wonder as I bathe in the beauty that surrounds me
My senses soak up the sights, sounds, and smells of this transition period of night to day
But like all things that are great, this to must end
It is brought to a close by the first sign of human life
A car flies by on the dirtroad behind the house
And the new day has begun [comments] => 0 [counter] => 162 [topic] => 43 [informant] => brokenheartsbleed [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 0 [ratings] => 0 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => oops )

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
