Just as the old world seem at its darkest
The old ways of sleaze and corruption,
of mean-mindedness, exploitation and manipulation
must go

If not we will sleep walk to oblivion

Long ago we gave up our power
To the priests, the politicians,
to all the present governors of our world

They got lost in sleaze and self-ambition
Creating venal solutions
only each others stupidity and corruption
to guide them

We the common man and woman, disgusted, turned away
Confused
Sickened by the ugliness they made from power
We turned back to work, family and friends
And tried to forget them
And hoped in vain somehow we would all be saved
in the end

Now we are approaching the end
The end of their hopeless games
Religion
Government
Authority
Finance
All fails
They thought they could govern
using only the hard face of knowledge
Wisdom and compassion and dreams
withered down the years

Now we approach our black future
That screams 'The End!'
Now we must take back the power
Again

The sick power-addicted suit-clothed thugs
who rule our world
have forfeited the power we gave them
Their sick and cynical nature
breeds on itself
spawning only more dead minds
They will drag us to the depths
We must take from them their power

They have failed and failed and failed us

Because we hoped in vain
Because we felt alone
Because we doubted ourselves
Because we believed in them
Because we were confused
Because we felt afraid

The world they built is sick and dying
the world of cynical greed and exploitation
the world of fear and darkness

They will not give up the power
They believe their every lie
They see the world corrupt
They believe you must manipulate
to survive

Their way is a slf-fulfilling prophecy
Just look in the eyes of a child
It doesn't have to be this way

We must take back the power we gave
Refuse them the green power they crave

It's time for a clean new start
Even now when all looks so dark

Come join me now today...
There' a world to win

Your lines, I fear are a bit too long. Shorten them to make them more precise.
My idea is that a poem must be boiled down over a long period of time for the best results.

Yes einherja I know, it wasn't meant as a poem - breaking the rules a bit. I know what you mean, normally I would do that with a poem but in this case I wanted a freer construction. thanks for reading... ;D
