Time To Put Away

Its time to put away the lights, the garland
And yes, the Christmas tree
Its time to put away anything and everything
That reminds you of me
Its time to place in the attic, pictures
The ones that made you smile
Its time to tuck away the memories
That made life worth while
Its time to pick up the wrapping paper
And the ribbons and bows
Its time to sit a side the presents
And the perfume fragrance rose
Its time to get back to the routines
Of our ordinary life
The job and the stresses
And the things that cause us strife
Its time to wave goodbye
To the ones we hold so dear
And erase them from our minds
Until this time next year
Its time to turn off the joy
And the melodies inside our head
Its time to watch TV
Before we go to bed
You see this poem isnt very pretty
Yet its exactly what some will do
They wont keep the spirit of Christmas
The whole year through
They will go back to the life
That could never rise above
Cause the first thing they will put away
Is the Christmas love
Dont be one of them.
