Just to hold her for a moment, as she struggled to survive
Her arrival in this world, was too soon, and this they knew
As they held her tiny hands and looked in her eyes of blue
The mother held her to her face, and whispered in her ear
Please hang on my darling, don't leave me now you're here
She felt the tiny breaths as they shortened one by one
Until her lifeless body would then relinquish none
The father wrapped his arms around the mother and the child
And kept at bay the raging, that inside him tempered wild

Her baby blues closed forever, her soft pink mouth held a smile
She had given so much to them though her time was just a while
Now to their precious girl, they sadly said goodbye
It was time for her to find her wings and join the angels in the sky
The mother dressed her child, and put on the bonnet trimmed with lace
Then wrapped her in a shawl of white, and kissed her beautiful face
Weak from childbirth and sorrow, the mother held her to her chest
And asked her husband to take them home, its what she wanted best
She wanted to take their daughter to where she would have grown
So desperately she needed to take her baby home

In a meadow of yellow grass, swaying in the breeze
Outside a sandstone cottage, underneath an old gum tree
A bed of soft brown earth has been made up through the day
And two lost souls watch over ,where her tiny body lay
A mother's heart is shattered,a father trying to be brave
As tears fall from their faces onto their baby's grave
There they stand in moonlight, silent in their pain
Wishing they could hear her breath just one more time again
They would have stood forever, watching over day and night
But from the sky they heard a whisper, and saw an awesome light
Her tiny voice came to them and as they saw her baby blues
She whispered gently, you don't need to watch over,
For I'm watching over you......
