the only way to travel out here
the dust sweeps up, clouds
pulling at his shirt sleeves
begging for him to stay

still, there is no turning
and pretending the steps
were never taken
footprints in the dirt
there is no lying on intent
even upon return the tears would fall
pity, guilt
what kind of motivation is that?

it’s far to dry out here
for this kind of conversation
about how I felt when the sun fell
and his form disappeared
off the horizon

darker clouds roll with thunder
it’s going to rain
the static moves me and
the smell of earth reminds me
there was time before
it always seems like there was no
life before…

the feel of rain on my face reminds me, I had forgotten-
I am not the only one waiting for the dust of a departure
to descend and rid my memory of
hands on skin

WOW!
I got you I think that s beautiful I kept reading while I lost in your words then I understood
at the end... I faced that same depression

the feel of rain on my face reminds me, I had forgotten-
I am not the only one waiting for the dust of a departure
to descend and rid my memory of
hands on skin

Very inspiring write.. thank God for the rain. It will either drown out our dark feelings, or wake us up, and out of our stupor. Some force, stimulus, or influence is always there to move us, when we cannot move on our own, in the right direction. This poem is so beautifully written, any reader can find his/her own meaning to it.. We all walk alone at times, until we decide we have one friend who will never leave us.. praying we do not leave Him... I tend to read all poems in a spiritual way, but that is just me.. Wonderful poem.. very wonderful poem..

I love all the stanzas, this one here:

it’s far to dry out here
for this kind of conversation
about how I felt when the sun fell
and his form disappeared
off the horizon

made me go back several times to re-read it. Raquel Leah :D

...my, gosh, Lady...you're good...you have such a spiritual blending of soul, heart, emotion and the written word...its like I imagine the roots of a gnarly, soulful, scrub pine, aged beyond its years, silently working their way amongst the fractured craig of granite overlooking the north atlantic...inching into a crevice here, a small crack there, a fissure under here, until its grasp is secure...you've inched your way into another person's soul...

...but, so young and so hurt...of what use is being Beautiful when you feel so empty...

...you worked your way in again...

...thanks...
