Morning Run
Got up with the rise of the sun Grabbed my jackets as I went out for a run Took in the coolness of the air Let behind all my worries and cares Down a path what is familiar ground Where only the birds make the sound
Jogging at a decent speed To keep on going, I feel the need One mile or maybe two Even three before Im through Until I cleansed of yesterday And the stresses that came my way
Oh such beauty my eyes can see On the trail ahead of me There is peace and contentment on this road Awaiting, after shedding this heavy load So my feet must not tire Until I reach my fondest desire

Good poem--I can feel the feet hitting the ground and the leaving the past behind and reach ahead without a worry!
Thanks for sharing!

| The concept of "running away from your troubles" is a pretty overdone topic, but I like the way you narrated the piece. Narration in poetry is not a strong suit of mine, and I admire your inclination. Some rhymes seemed fun to just repeat over and over, and others were the kind filled with dramatics that make an impact on the reader. I suggest trying to uniform those types or rhymes: either the fun kind, or the dramatic kind all throughout. Both types, however, played a good role in your piece. |
