Array ( [sid] => 108277 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => Surround Sound Pounds [time] => 2005-10-22 23:03:09 [hometext] => I wrote this peom for class after we learned about the beats... I was trying to copy the style with my own little twist; the writers of the Beat Generation have more than earned my respect. [bodytext] => Came in here today,
Wanting to share some insight.
Into a topic. What else?
What else? My god... what else?
Grey sport coat,
Or is it black?
Needs a wash I feel,
After that Philipino down on Main Street,
Broke my arms in a thousand different ways,
Never to be fixed by any known practitioner of medicine.
Humble, alive, short, slightly overweight,
Wearing a hat in order to cover up the bald spots.
Not from late night stress cups or creative binges,
A lost mind in need of one last hit of knowledge,
But from the nocturnal twisting and persistent pain.
Pain shared by 1,200 Hungarians,
And for no particular reason!
Reasoning is the seasoning on my salad,
But who eats salad on nights like these?
To cold… too crisp… too… afternoon…
Too much sun, too much room, too many eyes.
Clock reads 11, I read 12, and my nightstand, well,
She’s seen too many terrific things in her time to pay attention to books.
Try waking up to a blaring alarm clock five inches from the face,
Try waking up from repetitive, loud, surround sound pounds to the dome.
When you have this soft whisper in your ear…
God? Moses? T-Rex? Long Neck?
Long neck indeed. Where did she come from?
Oh, that’s right, the last nineteen years or so,
I’ve been dreaming of you.
And now here you are, next to me,
Real, unreal, surreal, what’s the deal?
The deal is that you got a full house and the two pair in front of ya are lookin a hell of a lot better than the ace hole you used to be.
Then, without warning, your worst fears come true,
As she sets herself ablaze, and from the ashes,
In your comfortable singed palace for the falace,
Don Quixote, The Man Of La Mancha,
Rises up and begins to speak!
Good man except for all the windmill business,
Which I hear now a days is a booming part of the economy.
And so, after all this…
An old brain in young shoes.
Drained, carved up, but still ticking.

Wash the grey into black, that is dark, and you may be right, because you are speaking of a higher level, grade in color, and yes, it shall cover up the mighty blemishes, that keep the soul asleep, in a toxic stage of inebriation, oh eat the salad, its the seasonings, seasons that ruin the plain plane, what is one hour if everything else is not in time, T-rex, soft jaw, can never break the jewels, the hardness of a soul, the diamond of the raw beginning of a beginning, your dreaming, a dream, that is true, only a dream can figure it out, and that dream is the creator of all, so a clock sits alone, it ticks alone, no one hears, how can they, when they are asleep in the world:>
