In caverns sated with shadowed dreams
Seeds long sown grow lush with need
For the endless night too long has held
Daylight’s magic in its spell

Though forgotten seeds lie under dust
Holding secret still their rare genus
Someone lingers to await the dawn
Remaining there as the night moves on

For in morning’s light, when sun returns
Reaped will be what has been earned
Fertile the soil where hope has lain
When clouds succeed in bringing rain

As imagined in the darkest hours
Dawn comes at last to find its flower
And when sunlight seeps into the cave
Water rushes forth in welcome waves

The endless night gives itself to dawn
Shadows, like old friends, move on

A voice is heard then
Inside the tomb
As someone…

dares the rose to bloom

Author's note: Yeh.... I changed the title (from Tomorrow's Rose). I just couldn't embrace the title under which I first posted this piece, it was too far removed from... well..... this (and me) to make any sort of sense at the top of this write. Dare the Rose was the original thinking that brought this to the page and the original title that I had considered. It wants to be this. Why I moved away from it I'll never know...

This is truly wonderful. I am always impressed by poems that paint a picture while I am reading them, and this one succeeds in doing just that. Great write.

Is it even adequate too say that this was just brilliant? Does that word do this write justice? Well I hope so since im perfectly in a blondish (yup I know) moment and couldn’t think of a positive way of saying how wonderful this write is and how great of a poet you are.

Well Christine this was just brilliant (Yup I said it, teehee.)

Oh... wow...

As someone...

dares the rose to bloom

I just feel the urge to chant in a whisper, "C'mon, I dare you. Dare me. See if I bloom"
And it's not even about me!!

Ugh! Poignant! I love it!!!

Love and peace,

Chelsea

I felt a deep sense of reverence and awe for the talent that this write required. It truly felt that it had a great inspiration. The rhyme, verse and imagery all flowed beautifully. The image of the rose is so powerful, yet delicate: it can grow out of a crevice in a rock, yet die in some one's back yard.

Magnificent write, Snemma

Will

blessed to have read this....and as is the tradition. :-) ...here are the lines it reminds me of....
Expect to have hope rekindled. Expect your prayers to be answered in wondrous ways. The dry seasons in life do not last. The spring rains will come again

You have a wonderful propensity for expressing the unexpressable.....

You had to know that anything with a rose in the title gets my attention..lol

This is brilliant, and I don't think I've ever used that word before in a comment. This write , though, deserves nothing less.

Roses at your feet for this one

wow and wow snemmy!! This was spectacular!
(why am I not surprised ?? lol) Impossibly creative and
imaginative, and how tremendously beautiful! You have
such a talent for evoking emotion with words and penning
the words in such a wondrous way! I am stilled.

Simply fantastic. Sweet honey to the tongue; this just sounds so good I want (again) to read it over.

I'll agree with Jarred on this one, more on its magnificence than anything else, but also dare works at least equally well up top; it's rhythmycally corresponding, but...other than that, I can't decide either.

  • Woah, just stumbled upon this. O_o
I don't know what to say, heh, it's all beyond words :D
The pace, rhythm, flow, imagery, and the concept -- oh, the concept!
So symbolically wonderful, I'm trying to switch between hurriedly typing here and going back up to read again.
My eyes are officially glued. :)

Awesome, Snemmy, I'm so glad I got to read this. . .

I think I rather love this poem. I love the beautiful metaphors & imagery and it also had me thinking how I much prefer to see the sunrise after a long night instead of trying to wake up to see it.
