I laugh at their ideas, their dreams,
Because I know they know not
What living in reality means.

I laugh at those optimists
At their sunny days
At their starry nights.
At the way they live;
As if life is a daze.

I laugh at those optimists
Who think of rainbows
Sparkles and light.
Who still l seem to think
That everything will eventually
Turn out right.

I laugh at those optimists
Who still wish for Miss Right
And wait for Prince Charming;
They have not yet realized
That there is no such thing.

I laugh at those optimists
Who are now what I once was.
Two roads diverged from one,
And I took the lesser trodden path;
But will anyone follow after I go,
Or will it just be me?

No it won't be just you. Misery loves company don't ya know? Sometimes chronic cheerfulness can be annoying. I hope you feel better for writing this rant. Cheers.

We are happy all the time (Or at least pretend to be), because the alternative is too depressing. I tend to like making people happy, and me being depressed all the time isn't gonna help. Well, that's my excuse....
Good first submission. I liked the style.
Take care.
David
