The long miles of wind swept beach,
Rills of sand scallop the dunes
The sea spray off the crest of waves,
I marvel at how the world behaves
Walking the shoreline with bare feet,
Crabs scuttle with spider grace
The cold water laps at my heels,
There are no words for how this feels.

The waves arrive in rhythmic sets,
The china blue roars and breaks
Gulls call alert of incoming tide,
The expanse of ocean is gloriously wide
A mingled sense of awe and unease,
Chills me on this lonely stretch
I love the walk and being alone,
But the whistling wind has an eerie tone.

As the blood red sun dips below the line,
Evening stars reveal their light
A distant ship sounds its horn,
A cry as beautiful as forlorn
The ink-black ocean encroaches the shore,
The moon reflected like a silvery ghost
Like a speck of sand on a changing beach,
I sense infinity in my reach

Like a drop of water in an endless sea
I feel part of something greater than me.

very touching. Makes me want to go to the beach right now just to listen to the waves roll in and out. Very soothing sound. Being outside in nature can sometimes help you clear your mind at least for me. thanks for sharing

The images in this are awsome!
and yet there goes along with them not just visual but sensations, the feel of the water, the night, etc.
I love writes that do what this one has done.

The imagery in this is amazing. It brought back memories of many years ago. Time spent alone on a beach, I could come back and slip into this poem again and again. Beautiful write.

*hugs*

Yeah, I got a beach of moonrock sandstone to my canyon pool. I tell about it in Solo Serendipity. Your eyes see it give detail so easily painting a perfection only nature can make and one knows,EVEN SPIKE, "there are no words for how this feels." Reading your poetry is an inspiration to bringing my own work to a new, more Spike-influenced detail of picture, emotion, and reason. This one? SUPERB okay?
