Ones Life

Sitting on my lounge chair
basking in the sun
All the children in the pool
having lots of fun

How wonderful it is
to live a life like this
While others can only dream about it
having no idea, it even exists

What a pleasure it is,having your family
spending this time with you
Enjoying some of life's pleasures
with nothing else to do

We come and go as we please
eating nothing but the best
The wine we drink with our meals
would pass the highest test

I wish more people in the world
could enjoy life,in a better way
Not having to worry, each and every moment
if they will exist, the very next day

Life is not easy made more difficult, by what's going on
You are here one moment
the next minute you are gone

So live your life, the best you can
enjoy it while you may
Hopefully in the future
we will have many a peaceful day [comments] => 7 [counter] => 150 [topic] => 31 [informant] => Bruce [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 17 [ratings] => 4 [editpoem] => 0 [associated] => [topicname] => StoryPoetry )

Hi Bruce. I enjoyed this because it took me way beyond the words.

I'm delighted that you are happy with your life as is, but one should perhaps not lose sight of the persuasive argument that wealth, industry, leisure time etc are won by a minority of the world's peoples, generally at the expense of the majority. Exploitation is the key concept underpinning uneven and unequal development

I have a life very similar to yours it seems but my main concern is the children in our country that have no food or decent shelter or love and security. Such philanthropists our government is, but not to our own people. We have aged doing without medication necessary for survival because they have no insurance. Children starving in our streets. Sometimes I feel very guilty for what I have accumulated and can only share with a few. Donation are sent here and there to aid the young and old, but it is never enough. Soon one day, Bruce, I hope we take care of our own before we try to take care of the world.

Smiles,
Rita

I think of my own son .. striving, but homeless because his minimum wage jobs are never enough..after they take out child support; then they take away his licence and he can't drive so he loses one job .. so he loses his apartment and is out in the street .. makes it hard to work then .. and with the severe paranoia, it's more difficult still ... and no medical insurance .. but the thing is, his is only one story out of thousands .. and when we see a homeless person, we look away .. like they are insects .. then go donate money to someone else .. kind of sad ...
