They were on their knees, kissing our fingers and telling us how beautiful we were. They were showing us their art. A thousand sketches in golden frames, hanging from the walls. Screaming at us as we passed. "Leave us alone. We do not want you here." And we listened to the tape recorder over and over again. "God is with you. He is here." We sat on the edges of our chairs, waiting for them to greet us. They walked out in business suits and frowns on their faces.
There was water. It was leaking under the doors and covering our shoes. We watched it rise, frightened by it. Catching it in our hands and splashing it on the walls. We sat in our chairs with our hands on our laps, waiting for the lamps to burn out so we could contemplate our options in darkness. And we longed to throw ourselves on our beds and scream into the sheets. "We are only human. We are only human."
But instead we covered our mouths to keep the water from spilling into our lungs. And we huddled together to stay warm. But we were only colder. And the various pictures were leaping from their frames, sewing themselves onto our fingers. Somewhere in another room, flutes were playing. And we hummed along with them to keep our minds distracted. We snatched our dreamcatchers off the ceiling and held them to our chests. "Lock your doors. The future is here." ...I followed Dri here...to your site...only two...such a disappointment...only two poems...I wanted more...both are sterling examples of such inescapable imagery...the heart, soul and spirit comprehend eons before the brain starts to click...you know...click...like the archaic click of the morse code on the old telegraph line...read the one in my classroom at school...that's the computer I have to use due to domestic turbulence...I read them both again, at home, before I turn out the light...

...I just went back to locate a few lines that particularly exploded at me...I couldn't narrow it down...the whole thing reverberates...I'll try again...

...dang it! that whole first section so perfectly blends the procession of thought that I simply cannot remove a part...

There were people.
They were on their knees, kissing our fingers and telling us how beautiful we were.
They were showing us their art.
A thousand sketches in golden frames, hanging from the walls.
Screaming at us as we passed. "Leave us alone. We do not want you here."
And we listened to the tape recorder over and over again. "God is with you. He is here."
We sat on the edges of our chairs, waiting for them to greet us.
They walked out in business suits and frowns on their faces.

...MELTDOWN...

...good poetry beats cocaine all to hell...it's almost better than sex...maybe it is sex...

...better shut up or you're gonna think I'm weird...well, weirder than I am...

...don't force it...forced poetry sounds like forced poetry...but, certainly, if the urge presents itself, please don't resist writing us some more...

...I'll have to thank Dri for leading me here...she doesn't even know she did...that's cyberspace for ya...

...thanks...

ron...enigma

p.s. I've never done cocaine, but it can't possibly stand up against what you've written here...not a chance...
