He was only a drunk
in an anywhere town.
Who had been to the top
then slid all the way down.

He crawled into a bottle
to escape his own hell,
but, the bars where he drank
became the bars on his cell.

In his long fall from heaven
each inch took it’s toll.
Till at last…on the bottom,
he had only his soul.

He was the life of the party,
but he kept falling down.
Now, he’s only a drunk
in an anywhere town.

He was only a drunk
in an anywhere town.
Who had been to the top
then slid all the way down.

He crawled into a bottle
to escape his own hell,
but, the bars where he drank
became the bars on his cell.

In his long fall from heaven
each inch took it’s toll.
Till at last…on the bottom,
he had only his soul.

He was the life of the party,
but he kept falling down.
