How could I have been so foolish?
To think I was ready to move on
when I could not leave the past
so instead You become the
"What was"
which was never to be
in the first place.
I just missed the endless nights
of card games and smoke,
cigarettes and drink
and the laughter that pulsated within the walls.
Even the lonely nights
knowing you cared
making sure I made it through
a door between us
never really letting you close enough
for I felt the need to run
that desperate call I answer
without fail.
Fail,
thats what I did to you
as a Friend and Brother.
But the past is past
and I can not deny what I have done
as each day I rise to the sun in my room
I am reminded of how I did you
wrong. [comments] => 2 [counter] => 239 [topic] => 50 [informant] => Nardo [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 5 [ratings] => 1 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => ApologyPoetry ) Your Poetry Dot Com - Forgive Me

I may never find the words that will
patch the hole in Trust
but I'll spend the rest of my life trying.
How could I have been so foolish?
To think I was ready to move on
when I could not leave the past
so instead You become the
"What was"
which was never to be
in the first place.
I just missed the endless nights
of card games and smoke,
cigarettes and drink
and the laughter that pulsated within the walls.
Even the lonely nights
knowing you cared
making sure I made it through
a door between us
never really letting you close enough
for I felt the need to run
that desperate call I answer
without fail.
Fail,
thats what I did to you
as a Friend and Brother.
But the past is past
and I can not deny what I have done
as each day I rise to the sun in my room
I am reminded of how I did you
wrong.
