the sun and their spirits were high.
Together they would laugh and sing,
and watch the clouds sail by.

The old trees were long-standing,
the flowers exquisitely wild,
and on the river's landing,
stood hand-in-hand, mother and child.

Yet the sunshine couldn't last,
although the child did not know,
The blue sky became overcast,
as the mother had to go.

The child left to question why,
the sunshine had been taken.
The garden, left to die,
will forever lie forsaken.
