Distant Echoes
While the crescendos of our love are fading
Into echoes our hearts will always hear
And the joys of our friendship
Seem anything but near
While our hearts try their best
To become accustomed to loneliness at night
I can’t help but remember
The one who made everything all right
Four years you were always there
To uplift my often weary soul
And no matter what might transpire
Into you’re your loving arms I could go
I fancied myself a strong man
Only to discover I’m wretched and weak
Thought my heart a mighty lion
Only to find it’s sad and meek
Indeed I am only half a man
Whose life has no meaning now at all
Whose only consolation comes
When her distant echoes seem to call
Russ
