Licks it's tongue into the corners
Of the town,
A burnt out cigar,
In the mouth of a frown,
Sits still.

Deep purple/black skies,
Strangle the light out of my eyes,
As the sky bleeds,
After melting,
All over the sea.
And still I know darkness,
Will never truly,
Touch me.

I watch the night fold,
Around this town of old,
And wonder what morning may bring,
A reversal of colours,
A package of dollars,
Promise, of a new song
to sing. [comments] => 3 [counter] => 183 [topic] => 43 [informant] => phildel [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 0 [ratings] => 0 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => oops ) Your Poetry Dot Com - Night Encloses

Night encloses, darkness,
Licks it's tongue into the corners
Of the town,
A burnt out cigar,
In the mouth of a frown,
Sits still.

Deep purple/black skies,
Strangle the light out of my eyes,
As the sky bleeds,
After melting,
All over the sea.
And still I know darkness,
Will never truly,
Touch me.

I watch the night fold,
Around this town of old,
And wonder what morning may bring,
A reversal of colours,
A package of dollars,
Promise, of a new song
to sing.
