Fast and Shimmer
R. Dafremen
The fasting almost killed this love
Waiting almost turned this heart away
Don't think for a second
That your aren't the queen of my heart
But I almost couldn't take the pain
Of having you away
I turned away from everyone I met
Felt the love inside me go away
"No smiles for anyone", I'd think
To blot their faces from my brain
And hide the painful hole that I felt inside
It gnawed away any shred in me
Of empathy, the apathy that swallowed me
With the half of me that multiplied my presence
Made me whole
You were everything to me
And still it all went away
When you went away, "To get away"
Time away from you was a broken window
While you were gone the dark fell icy on my face
Don't think for a second
That it was a piece of cake without you, sugar
For lack of breath
I almost froze to death with you away.
But all that's changed because you're back
And I've got singing to do
While you were gone, I shoulda been lovin' you
Got lovin' to do, holding you
Wouldn't want you to think
That I'm not outta my head with joy to see you
If I could dance a little hum that's in my head
I'd cry of ecstacy unto the netherness
You'd see me trip the light fantastic
Instead, my simple groove and shuffle
Can't express enough the shine of merely seeing you
If I could sail the air as daydreams fly
Then you'd see how high my heart leapt
Upon your shimmer's glide into the room
My waking dreams become reality
Awakened to the fantasy wrapped up in you.
