Did Atlantis really exist?
And also the Unicorn?
Did Pegasus ever soar the skies?
How came the Griffin to be born?

Does the Phoenix really burn itself
And spring again from its funeral pyre?
Do Fairies and Elves walk the earth?
Do Dragons really breathe fire?

The tales we're told throughout our lives
Leave much to be desired,
For in a world where logic prevails,
Mythological creatures have expired.

The faith that works all miracles
Is explained as coincidence.
Well, how much faith can anyone have
If logic takes precedence?

They say the myths are just results
Of imagination's running wild,
And bedtime stories that are made up
To entertain the child.

It was my fate to be taught
The logic of today,
And I bless the fact that I
Can think things through in every way.

But the child in me has kept her head;
The brainwashing did not succeed.
For her escape was their mistake
When they taught me how to read.

If these wondrous creatures are only products
Of vivid imagination's,
How did people know how they looked
To give us illustrations?

My belief in all this logic is still
As strong as it will ever be,
But I'll always believe in myths
And fairytales and fantasy.

For Unicorns and Phoenixes
And Dragons standing tall,
Will always stay within my heart;
You see, I've met them all.
