I want to write such words
that daydreamers might recall.
A line or two to catch the floating mind;
to liberate thoughts from solitude;
to soothe the anxious heart
when morning/'/s rattle slips to silence.
A poem that young lovers might read
on a summer/'/s day by an ambling river,
or an ageing love might pin
to a special wall of recollection.
A poem to wear in a snowy,
window- framed winter"s glance,
or on a thoughtful, autumn stroll.
A poem to recall when years
have all but erased it from the mind.
I wish I could, I really wish I could.

I want to write a poem;
a poem to indelibly etch the memory.
I want to write such words
that daydreamers might recall.
A line or two to catch the floating mind;
