About what we wear on our heads, or at least we used to do!
There’s beanie hats and baseball caps, berets, bowlers and then,
Royal crowns or coonskins and bonnets tied ‘neath chins.
There’s cloche hats and monk/'/s hats, cowboy hats in open spaces
Deerstalkers and dunce caps and derby hats for races..
Football helmets, fascinators, fedoras with a crease.
Hoodies, and jester/'/s caps, and helmets for the police. .
Homburgs and glengaries, the Scottish best-loved hat.
Mortarboards that students wear when they graduate.
That they must toss into the air (in fact they just can’t wait!)
Riding hats and newsboy caps, and stovepipes to the sky.
Skull caps and sou’westers that keep us warm and dry.
Snoods (just fancy hairnets) straw hats, sombreros too.
Tams, tieras, turbans, and toques for chefs to use.
Knitted watchcaps, and walrus hats that fold over the brim.
Alpine caps with feathers, called tyroleans.
There are plenty more I’ve missed but there/'/s no time dog gone it.
Hats off to you for all you do. Or put a lid upon it.
