[hometext] => I saw a photo of a dolphin with a plastic grocery bag hooked on its fin, it just looked wrong.
[bodytext] => Litter
There is an illness in the ocean’s heart
And clouds are spewing down in painful hail;
Meadows of litter upon the sea and shore
Find their way into the belly of the whale.
Discarded plastics of our daily use
Have plagued the pearlfish and dolphin farm;
Marine life breathes in freedom just like us,
Solutions haven’t caught up to the harm.
The plastic bag or bottle at your feet
Will find the albatross and green sea turtle
And when we aren’t good stewards of the earth
We wreck the habitat of life in circle.
Let us destroy the litter that we make
And keep aquatic life from this pollution;
Our garbage has its place to not intrude
Upon the baby whale in open ocean.
What will we do within a world made worse
Because we do not learn the grace of life;
A choice of methods rests with us alone,
Why can’t we see a little past the night?
Our inward heart at times will show its thorns
And jab compassion off its lonely stand;
Please recognize these creatures in our global home
And the affects we have on them at our command.
