I found a coin
wrapped in soil,
a small reward for
endless toil;
a remnant buried for so long,
of lives and times and distant song.
A tiny symbol of shared trust,
that passed from hand to hands, now dust.
a lesson with its own refrain;
while much is lost, a part remains.
In its stead I placed a gift,
a small exchange, I understand;
for future hands that choose to sift,
and share their hopes and hearts in land.
