Resisting that urge to pick you out
In that crowd of a shared intent
To offer our Lord every bit of our hearts

I fight so hard to resist you from up here
The altar, my Sunday morning stage
To quell my heart is indeed a miracle
Thankfully Jesus has intervened on its behalf

Sunday mornings I fight my best
Yet remain surrendered for six straight days
Irrationality has decided to pay me a longterm visit
Making you the main conversation piece

Sunday mornings set the standard for the rest of my week
If only to them I could adhere
This looks like a job for my Savior, a need for true reliance
On Him to redirect my one-track mind
To take my eyes off my own little world
So I can positively impact that one around me [comments] => 1 [counter] => 126 [topic] => 76 [informant] => Deidra_Carmichael [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 0 [ratings] => 0 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => obsession ) Your Poetry Dot Com - Sunday Mornings

Eyes on Him only, I chide myself
Resisting that urge to pick you out
In that crowd of a shared intent
To offer our Lord every bit of our hearts

I fight so hard to resist you from up here
The altar, my Sunday morning stage
To quell my heart is indeed a miracle
Thankfully Jesus has intervened on its behalf

Sunday mornings I fight my best
Yet remain surrendered for six straight days
Irrationality has decided to pay me a longterm visit
Making you the main conversation piece

Sunday mornings set the standard for the rest of my week
If only to them I could adhere

On Him to redirect my one-track mind
To take my eyes off my own little world
So I can positively impact that one around me
