Borders are a symptom, nothing more,
to a sickness shorn of any cure.
This madness;
I am Albanian!
I am American!
I am Brazilian!
I am Canadian!

On my side of the ground,
(not so easy to even find!)
I will take your life.
I will, because:
I am Albanian!
I am American!
I am Brazilian!
I am Canadian!

Well, yes, this earth is round.
But, this invisibly defined ground
was built on the blood of those who used to be,
Albanian!
American!
Brazilian!
Canadian!

What gave me the right to kill you?
What logic came to make it natural,
a shrugged acceptance this is the way of things?
I don’t know. We breathe, we eat, we kill.
We do so to remain, to claim;
I am Albanian!
I am American!
I am Brazilian!
I am Canadian!

A folly of horror. [comments] => 4 [counter] => 86 [topic] => 28 [informant] => invierno [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 0 [ratings] => 0 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => Patriotic ) Your Poetry Dot Com - Borders II
