To prepare the way

A fold of water
Snapping at the bay
Clamoring to attention
At the fierce belay
Of a morning storm
Waning away

Love breaks itself—

And claws at the pyre
Until there is nothing left
To bar the way
Until there is—.

Dreams of lavender and rose
Broken with purpose

Love breaks itself—
It knows no other way
It rends and cleaves
And claws at its desire
Until there is only fire
To prepare the way
Until there is only dust

Love breaks itself—
