rattle in their cages
when I`m reaching for empty spaces

I keep losing my balance
in the quiet of your absence

peace I`ve cultivated
becomes dissipated
the calm before the storm
gives way to howling winds at my door

I keep getting uprooted
by my own mind, so convoluted

your love makes me so still
feet on the earth until
you are out of my reach
then my head fills with words I can`t speak

all these fears that I`ve shelved
and thoughts I`ll never tell
rattle in their cages
when I`m reaching for empty spaces
