Everything that he possessed had been negotiated;

He never stayed one place too long; Counting on their doubts.He simply vanished overnight; Before his scheme was figured out

He chanced to meet a charming lass; He couldn’t bear to leave! She doubted that he loved her; though it was clear to see!
Trying to convince her, his leaving was delayed; The ones he owed caught up with him and hung him straight away!!

A graveyard is the only place where String Along will stay. His headstone begs the question and has the final say:

Here swings old String from lingering; too smart for us he thought.
Twas taught what ought, when he was caught; Too clever, was he knot?

This cowpoke promised you the world, and you’d believe his sell.
They simply called him String Along because he did it well.
Everything that he possessed had been negotiated;
Although he never paid them off; they believed and waited.

You will receive if you believe, he said, have faith and trust! Leaving them with empty hands; And pockets full of dust.
