[bodytext] => you were the empty space between my fingertips and everything I reached for
you built every wall that stood between my heart and the place where it used to fall
time slowed and I found I could only crawl
skies greyed and I couldn`t see you at all
so I became the wisp of smoke left behind by something softly slipped away
I became the misplaced word on the tip of your tongue that just won`t come to mind
colours faded `til my heart went blind
feeling for something I just couldn`t find
the tide went out and never returned to wash away lines in the sand we drew
day to day everything looked the same but the drought slowly stole all life away
cracked and thirsty, we stayed until one day
we knew we had to find a better way
you became my memories and I dug deep to find the water underground
built a well and took a bath, I learned to revel in the rain when it fell down
and that was where I found you broken down
I picked you up and turned you back around
you have been reborn, you came to me and closed the gap with something so brand new
tore down old walls and we found a new pace running madly for the ocean waves
as the tide crashed in, our sins we forgave
the sand so smooth showed no trace of old graves
we have broken through, and though it breaks my heart to hold you in a different way
I wouldn`t change a thing if changing means going back to those empty spaces
because even in my empty places
I get to keep you in love-filled graces
