Old tales linger on,
keeping an endless narrative
of blossoming decay
as the gods join together
in laughing chorus;
their deafening whispers
vibrate through stagnant waters,
lapping together in growing waves,
crashing ashore,
pinning me against jagged rocks.

I wait to drown,
if only the gods would allow it.

They, who hold me
in the womb of eternal longing;
I cry for the path out
as they present it to me,
yet bind me at a distance,
chaining me in desperate solitude,
wishing against hope
for the strength
to engage them in open war.
